GOOD FOR HUMANITY.
The Outland Denim business model provides the platform, tools and resources for both our customers and employees to create change. When our team of seamstresses come to the table to create our products, the holistic support model that underpins all we do ensures that they are well cared for, in control of their work lives and given every opportunity to improve on their circumstances through education, cross and upskilling, and the payment of living wages.
In turn, they are able to share their earned prosperity with their families and the wider community.
HOW IT WORKS:
We have spent 10 years developing our business model, designed to support young women (and men) out of modern slavery and vulnerability through investment in training, life skills acquisition, economic empowerment and opportunity for career progression.
Each time you purchase an Outland Denim piece, you help activate a cycle of freedom. Around the world, one in every 130 women and girls is living in modern slavery, women who deserve safety, opportunity, and a future of their own making. At Outland, we begin by offering traineeships that lead to long-term employment. Each new team member earns a living wage, giving them the ability to afford rent, health care, nutritious food, education for their children, and to start saving for the future. Alongside fair pay, our team members receive on-site health care, ongoing education, and vocational training. These same women then craft your Outland Denim garments, pieces that carry hope, skill, and dignity in every stitch. The cycle of freedom continues. Because to fight for people, we must also fight for the planet. Your purchase helps create generational change.
Our silhouettes have been perfected with time and honour the diversity of humanity. Our garments are made with a story woven into the fabric of their design, imbuing each piece with a part of the story of its creator and further deepening the connection between maker and wearer. These hidden treasures quietly declare, “I contribute to change. I empower freedom.”
A unique QR code will then take the product’s new owner on a journey that further deepens the connection between mission, garment and wearer. After scanning you are able to send a direct message to the brand’s team of seamstresses.
It is our desire that our pieces will not only be loved by their owner, but will be cherished by future custodians, ultimately leaving a lighter footprint on the Earth and a story to be told and shared for years to come.

In 2018 Outland Denim was awarded B Corporation status. Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. Unlike other certifications for businesses, B Lab is unique in its ability to measure a company’s entire social and environmental impact. B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.
As leaders in the movement for economic systems change, B Corps reap remarkable benefits. They build trust with consumers, communities, and suppliers; attract and retain employees; and draw mission-aligned investors. As they are required to undergo the verification process every three years in order to recertify, B Corps are by definition also focused on continuous improvement, leading to their long-term resiliency.
